DAY 2:  SUNDAY, MARCH 12, 2017              SALZBURG (D)

Willkommen!  Your full-time bilingual Tour Manager will greet you at Munich’s airport.  Transfer by private coach to the nearby musical city of Salzburg, where you can begin exploration right away with a ride up the funicular to your visit of the Hohensalzburg Fortress, allowing for extraordinary views!  This evening, enjoy a 3-course dinner at a local restaurant and a good night’s sleep after your journey.

DAY 3:  MONDAY, MARCH 13, 2017         SALZBURG (B/D)

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel today, and each morning for the remainder of your trip.  A local guide will join you for a walking tour to introduce you to one of the world’s greatest composers–Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and also to the magic of Salzburg where “the hills are alive with the sound of music.”  Included are entrances to Mozart’s Birthplace which brings life to his story, Mozart’s Residence including one of his very own pianos, and Salzburg Cathedral, where Mozart made his home town debut as a symphonist in 1766 at the age of 10!  Visit the Mirabell Gardens and St. Sebastian Cemetery, with the graves of Mozart’s wife and father.  You will also stroll along the iconic Getreidegasse, a medieval alley full of shops and boutiques.

DAY 4:  TUESDAY, MARCH 14, 2017          SALZBURG (B/D)

Today’s excursion brings you to the Salzkammergut Lake District for a visit to the town of Mondsee.  Entrance is provided to the Basilica, featured in the wedding scenes of the Sound of Music as the church where Fraulein Maria becomes Frau von Trapp.  You will also visit a local Salt Mine where you will enter as a miner by utilizing the slides down below; learn of the famous history and sail across the underground salt lake.  Your European Concert debut is scheduled for this evening!  Sample venues include the Salzburger Dom, Christuskirche Salzburg, and nearby Mondsee Abbey.  A warm-up rehearsal is provided at your venue, prior to each of your three performances.


Your adventure continues as you travel north to Prague, by way of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Cesky Krumlov.  A guided walking tour allows for exploration of the castle complex and tower, with expansive views of the Old Town.  Your tour manager will make suggestions for lunch, and memento shopping.  Your days ends in Prague, the capital city of the historic region of Bohemia and the Czech Republic.  This evening enjoy a performance of Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the National Marionette Theater.

DAY 6:  THURSDAY, MARCH 16, 2017      PRAGUE (B/D)

Explore Prague today with a local guide.  Your walking tour crosses the Charles River Bridge from Lesser Town into Old Town, with its world famous Astronomical Clock.  A tour of the Estates Theater is included; here performance scenes of the movie “Amadeus” were filmed, and premiers of “Don Giovanni”, “La Clemenza di Tito”, “Prague” Symphony, and the Clarinet Concerto took place.  See the Villa Bertramka, where Mozart finished the overture to “Don Giovanni” hours before its premiere.  Furthering your composer studies, visit the Antonin Dvorak Museum‘s exhibition.  This afternoon’s Vltava River cruise showcases exceptional views of the city’s unique sites.  Present your Czech Concert this evening!  Sample venues include St. Nicholas Church in the Old Town Square, St. Francis of Assisi Church, and St. Salvator Church.

DAY 7:  FRIDAY, MARCH 17, 2017              VIENNA (B/D)

Your European journey advances with a stop in Jihlava, enroute to Vienna.  Visit the Mahler House, where the composer lived with his family from 1860; the collection relates to Gustav Mahler’s life, family and music.  There is free time with your tour manager, before continuing on to Austria and settling into your hotel.  This evening visit the Haus der Musik, an interactive museum dedicated to sound and music where its virtual conductor technology allows visitors to hoist an electronic baton and conduct the fabled Vienna Philharmonic inside Musikverein’s golden concert hall!

DAY 8:  SATURDAY, MARCH 18, 2017       VIENNA (B/D)

A full day’s guided tour of Vienna begins with a drive along the magnificent Ringstrasse.  Sightseeing highlights include St. Stephen’s Cathedral which held Mozart’s funeral in 1791, and a visit of Franz Schubert’s Birthplace (and Adalbert Stifter memorial rooms).  This afternoon enjoy a visit of Schloss Schonbrunn, summer home to the Habsburg family, birthplace of Marie-Antoinette, and where Mozart often performed.  You will also stop at the Zentralfriedhof, one of the largest cemeteries in the world, to visit the final resting place of composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, and Strauss.  This evening present your European Concert finale in Vienna!  Sample venues include St. Stephan’s Cathedral and Imperial Hall.

DAY 9:  SUNDAY, MARCH 19, 2017           DEPARTURE (B)

After a final breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the Vienna Airport for your return flights home.  Your tour manager will assist with airline check-in.
